JAPN 402 Advanced Modern Japanese: Conversation and Composition I

Improvement of speaking and writing skills through readings and discussions on a variety of social and cultural issues; emphasis on appropriate language use in formal situations. It is strongly recommended that students plan to complete both JAPN 402 and JAPN 403 within one year. Credit will be granted for only one of JAPN 402 or JAPN 302.

This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

Pre-reqs: One of JAPN 213, JAPN 251, JAPN 323, JAPN 361.

This course will be delivered in a mix-mode format (2 hrs synchronous + 1 hr asynchronous). Students are expected to meet with the instructor synchronously for the sessions at the above listed days and times. Besides the synchronous meetings, the rest of the teaching will be delivered asynchronously and students are expected to complete on their own time. The total workload for this 3-credit course remains the same as a normal class that is delivered in-person.
