Studies in post-Biblical history, documents, and religious ideas of the Christian tradition. Depending on the area of concentration, language requirements include either Latin or Greek and a reading knowledge of French or German.

Christianizing Egypt. The emergence and development of Christianity in Egypt from the first century CE to the rise of Islam. Gnosticism and Magic; Daily Life and Persecution in Oxyrhynchus; Temples, Churches, and Saints' Shrines; and, Monasticism. Focus on documentary sources (papyri) and archaeology (mainly art and material culture), complemented by a selection of literary sources.
