Sociology of Soccer: We will explore a range of topics in the sociology of soccer (association football): the origins of the game; spectator identities and the rivalry between Rangers and Celtic fans; supporter performances at AS Roma and Whitecaps FC matches; soccer hooliganism; sexism, heterosexism, racism and classism in soccer; the celebrity of George Best and David Beckham; pickup soccer; how Barcelona FC won the UEFA Champions League and who will win the next FIFA World Cup.

NOTE: 75% of seats in this course have been restricted to Sociology Majors.
