THTR 325A: History of Canadian Theatre - Staging 50 Years of Multicultural Love and Migration, 1967 to 2017. Focusing on English-language Canadian theatre (and some bilingual translations), this course explores canonical, award-winning Canadian plays that premiered in Vancouver, BC; Edmonton, AB; Toronto, Kitchener, Ottawa, ON; Montreal, QC, and Dartmouth, NS. Students refine their academic writing, critical thinking and public speaking skills through analysis of dramatic play texts, scholarly articles, videos and exposure to guest artists working in Canadian theatre. Attendance at live theatre is highly encouraged.
