On Audiencing: Spectatorship and Audience Engagement in 20th- and 21st-century Drama, Theatre, and Performance. This course explores aesthetic and dramaturgical trends in modernist and contemporary drama, theatre, and performance from the perspective of audience engagement. It focuses predominantly on Western performance history and practices, examining modern drama as well as contemporary productions out of Canada, Europe, the UK, and the United States. This course is open to third- and fourth-year undergraduate students across departments in Theatre, Film, Media, Art History, English, and Performance Studies. Please contact the instructor if you are interested in taking the course but do not meet the pre-requisite requirements.
