ENGL 100 013 (Web-Oriented Course)

Reading and Writing about Literature

A writing-intensive introduction to the disciplines of literary studies through the exploration of texts in their critical and theoretical contexts. Fulfils the first-year component of the Faculty of Arts Writing and Research Requirement. Open only to students in the Faculty of Arts. Recommended for students intending to become English majors. Essays are required.

This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

Students planning to seek a Major, Honours, or Minor degree in English are encouraged to take this course. **Students require only one of WRDS 150, WRDS 350, ENGL 100, ARTS 001 (Arts One), or ASTU 100 or 101 (Coordinated Arts Program) to satisfy the Writing Component of the Writing and Research Requirement. **Open by permission to students outside Arts who are considering an ENGL minor and have strong ENGL 12 grades: first-year.english@ubc.ca RESTRICTED TO STUDENTS IN ARTS, FINE ARTS, AND MUSIC.
