The Catastrophic Earth: Natural Disasters

Introduction to causes and physical characteristics of disasters such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, storm surge, thunderstorms, tornadoes, landslides, wind waves, meteor impacts, mass extinctions.

-  ONLINE FINAL EXAM ON CANVAS WITH PROCTORIO: This course will ONLY use Proctorio, an online remote invigilating tool for the Final Exam. Proctorio will record your webcam, your computer screen, or other actions during the exam and share that information with your instructor and the teaching assistants. The recorded information meets British Columbia's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. In order to use Proctorio you are required to have access to, a regular computer (Windows/Mac computer or laptop). You cannot take the assessments from mobile devices (e.g., iPhone, iPad, Android device, etc). You need a working, high quality webcam and microphone. You also must install the Google Chrome web browser & the Proctorio Extension. If you do not have the required computer hardware and robust internet connection, or if you object to the recording that Proctorio makes of you during the exam, then you should NOT register for this course OKANAGAN STUDENTS: Prior to registering in EOSC courses, please speak with an Academic Advisor to determine if/how this is applicable to your degree program. NOTE: Course start dates and withdrawal deadlines are very close together for the summer term. If you register late, you may miss the drop deadline and will be responsible for the course tuition.
