-  (HIST 490 is intended for History majors, History honours students, and students majoring in the history and philosophy of science, but students from other departments may register if they obtain the instructor's permission.) In 2020W, the topic for HIST 490W will be History of Emotions: This seminar will explore the growing field of the history of emotions, with a particular focus on fear, nostalgia, and affective ties to place. With case studies ranging from emotional upheavals of the French Revolution to Cold War nuclear anxieties to disorientation following the flooding of BCs Arrow Lakes, well consider both how and why historians (and others) have examined the history of emotions.
