- UBC has confirmed that all Asian Studies Term 2 courses will be online. The meeting days and times currently displayed reflect the maximum time that students will be expected to meet synchronously with the instructor. Courses that are meeting for fewer than 3 hours per week will have traditional lectures replaced with asynchronous learning tasks. The overall workload of the course will remain unchanged. JAPN 101 (3): Beginning Japanese I (Term 2). Pre-requisite: JAPN 100 or equivalent. If you have taken or plan to take the intensive course equivalents, you will receive credit for only one of the intensive or non-intensive courses, although the final grade for both courses will be factored into your overall GPA. For further clarification, please contact the Department of Asian Studies. If this course is blocked please sign up for the waitlist section. Students will be placed into the class based off our department priority guidelines. For more information please visit: http://www.asia.ubc.ca/undergraduate/department-wait-lists/ (Is the class blocked even though there are a few seats that are free? This is normal. Please check our website for what this means.)
- This course will be delivered in a mix-mode format (3hrs synchronous + 1 hr asynchronous). Students are expected to meet with the instructor synchronously online for the sessions at the above listed days and times. In addition to the synchronous meetings, the remaining course materials will be delivered asynchronously, as outlined on the course syllabus, and students are expected to complete on their own time. The total workload for this 3-credit course remains the same as a normal class that is delivered in-person.
