Examines the rationales and criticisms of empire; mercantilism, industrial capitalism, and free trade; methods and systems that gave rise to the British Empire and the factors which explain the fall of the first British Empire.
Pre-reqs: (6 credits of HIST; or HIST 116 and third-year standing.)
