PHIL 316 Philosophy After 1800

Survey of 19th and 20th century philosophy. May include Hegel, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Mill, Meinong, Brentano, the British Idealists, Russell, and Moore. Social and political currents in 19th century philosophical thought.

This term we study three major works of the major 19th Century philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche: Thus Spoke Zarathustra (1883), Beyond Good and Evil (1886), and The Genealogy of Morals (1887).

All lectures will be recorded and uploaded to a Youtube playlist. All students who have access to Youtube will be able to access the lectures asynchronously.
