Popular and literary works in modern Punjabi, with a focus on short stories and poetry. Emphasis on reading, writing, and vocabulary development.

Students are not required to have taken PUNJ 300; please contact the instructor to ask about your level. In this class, we will read the "greats" of modern Punjabi literature from the Indian Punjab, with a few works from Pakistan (in Gurmukhi script). Authors include Ajeet Cour, Kartar Singh Duggal, Amrita Pritam, Kulwant Singh Virk, and Gurbakhsh Singh "Preetlari." Students will make presentations and do short writing assignments in Punjabi; the final paper can be done in English or Punjabi, at the choice of the student. Contact the instructor to sign up!
