CCST 503 Graduate Practicum and Major Paper in Curatorial Studies

Practical on-site teamwork to produce exhibitions or other public displays in a museum, gallery, or alternative situation, offering opportunities for comparison, collaboration, and interdisciplinarity. Students concurrently produce a major paper from the ideas and research which generate the exhibition.

This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

Class Held at the Belkin Art Gallery

CCST 503 is the practicum for the degree in Critical Curatorial Studies. Students research, plan and realize individual and/or collective exhibition projects in dialogue with the other participants in the class.
There are some reading on the nature of the gallery experience, critical aesthetics and contemporary curating. Other readings will arise from the practica. In addition students will engage with guests of the curatorial lecture series.
