ARCL103: This course is a survey of human history, from the evolution of our earliest human ancestors to the complex cultures and civilizations that emerged across the globe, tracing these discoveries alongside the development of archaeology as a practice. Through weekly lectures and discussion sections, we will examine common themes in the emergence and development of civilizations in Ancient China, the Near East, and the Americas. Weekly tutorials complement lectures by focusing on the methods of archaeology and the material culture that enables us to investigate our human past.
