ARCL 419 - The Archaeology of Death: In this seminar course, through lecture, discussions and readings, students will learn about the methods and theories integral to the study of mortuary archaeology. Starting with humanitys origins and ending with the Victorian era, students will learn about how burial practices and mortuary customs have changed through time in the western world. A major project will involve students undertaking historical archaeological research on a group of graves from Vancouvers Mountain View Cemetery.
