Rise of the British imperial system within a global context from its beginnings to 1850. Focuses on economic and social themes with emphasis on settlements in the southern hemisphere as well as the West Indies.

HIST 310: Lectures will be pre-recorded and should be viewed before class. Depending on the enrollment size, instructor will divide the class into 3 or 4 groups (with 10 or fewer students per group) that will meet for discussion via Zoom once per week, either on Tuesday or Thursday.
