As this is a new course, there are no pre- or co-requisites. This interdisciplinary version of AFST 352 will be team-taught by Kofi Gbolonyo and Deena Dinat. The focus will be on 21st century Africa, and the course will explore issues of queer politics, gender, race, spiritual practices and capitalism. Students will participate in a hands-on workshop on African music and discuss a range of popular African films.
