ANTH 478B Ethnographic Film Methods - ETHNO FILM METHD

Ethnographic digital video production, including methods of ethnographic fieldwork, creation of field notes, and research design; basics of digital video planning, production, and editing. Production fees are charged for this course. Prerequisite: ANTH 378 is recommended.

This is a project-based course that will be taught online. This term the course will focus on using digital ethnography, visual storytelling, and documentary forms to address social activism in the context of the climate emergency and our current pandemic. Students will work virtually to plan and produce a short digital videos. Given current COVID-19 restructuring students will need use of their own digital camera  this can range from a simple smart phone to a more complex DSLR.
