Music and Drama: Incidental Music and Opera in the Early Modern Period "
This lecture style graduate course is at the intersection of literary, theatrical and musicological studies, presenting graduate students with the development of musical drama and opera in German within the larger European context, reaching from the Age of Humanism to the Enlightenment. The course will be taught in English. German reading knowledge is an asset but not required. The instructor will offer a course of study covering a variety of theoretical and practical aspects of study of the material. Please note this course is cross-listed with MUSC 525A.
