Search For Courses

This is where you can search for courses based on a number of criteria including day and time offered, subject area and keywords in the course description. The results will display at the bottom of the page. Not all fields are required to search. When searching by course subject, please ensure you include your campus location (e.g. BIOL_O or BIOL_V).

Search tips

• Use ALL CAPS when searching for a subject (e.g MATH_V or CHEM_O)
• Looking for a course but don’t know the exact course number? Use keyword search (e.g special topic, chemistry, geography, research, quantum, thesis, seminar, advanced). The UBC Calendar is another resource for exploring courses at UBC.
• Do you know the number of credits you are looking for? Search using credits (e.g 3, 6)
• Are you looking for the lecture/discussion/lab, etc. component of a course? Remember to search using the instructional method of your choosing so that those results are displayed as a single list of available course sections
• Note: Display Issue with Ordering of Course Sections - The course sections are currently not listed in a systematic order. We are aware of this issue and actively working to fix it.

Reviewing the search results

• Some course sections have section comments that contain additional information about the course section such as restrictions
• Click on the course section name (e.g SCIE_V 001-001) to see additional meeting days and times for the course section or if the section is part of a cluster of courses that you need to register in.
• Courses that run both Term 1 and 2 will be situated in Winter Term 1
• Maximum results displayed is 200. Use additional search parameters to narrow your search for refined results.
